You heard wings flap not far from where you were chained followed by the sound of feet hitting the ground. You could not see nor ask who had come, but you had hope that it was someone who had come to set you free. Surely they forgave you after such a long time. You couldn't beg or plead for forgiveness, but you could wish, wish and wish for it.

"Filth, I am disappointed in you. After such a long time, you still have not repented."

So it seemed the being before you was the archangel, Marthol. They were put in charge of you at the time of your creation, as well as a handful of other new angels. Though you were the only one whom they seemed to have a distaste for.

You heard their footsteps coming closer to you. Feeling the scorn and utter loathing radiating from their form.

“You should count yourself lucky. The Dominions have decided upon your release, though I and many others think you should simply be left to rot.”

You heard another flap of wings, and suddenly, the chains were being unlatched from your person, though rather roughly.

You did not complain nor make any sound of discomfort. If you had you would have been in for more pain than you believed you deserved.

After the chains were taken from you, you rubbed your sore wrists and neck - trying to soothe the stinging that the chains caused.

You stretched your wings that were stiff from disuse. Marthol twitched when your wings came into view. They snarled, then as if a light had gone off inside them, a look of contentment washed over the once harsh lines of disdain.

“Come dear,” You were not fooled by the new tinge of sweetness that came over Marthols voice. It infact made you ever the more wary.

Marthol was never kind to you. Calling you filth and a disgrace regularly. Though they were meant to name you upon your creation, they did not. And so the terms of loathing that they used to address you became your name. You had no other.

The three of you, Marthol, you and the angel that released you from the chains, walked through what you knew as heaven.

Everything here seemed to be opposite of what the name would suggest. Everything was monochrome. The streets, the towers, the columns, even the sky above lacked the vibrancy that one would think a place called heaven would have.

The place was desolate as well. You rarely saw any other angels here. The one’s you did see seemed...off somehow. They too lacked vibrance and simply glided through space as if they did not exist.

You had lived in this place since your creation, so you were used to the drab atmosphere. Even though it greatly contrasted with your (h/c) hair, (s/c) skin, (e/c) eyes, and (w/c) wings.

You even to contrast with Marthol and their aid, who had very light hair and eyes. Their appearance seemed to be that of purity itself, yet that also contrasted with they way they acted towards you and the other angels that assumed had no souls.

Marthol was, for lack of a better word, a menace towards you. You weren’t sure why, but whenever you were in the vicinity or mentioned, their demeanor would become so mean and so cruel, that you wondered why you were put in their charge to begin with.

The three of you walked through the grey landscape until you reached a building made of grey stones to match the landscape and a large wooden double doored entrance.

Marthol pushed the heavy doors open with a soft chuckle, one that would even make the devil cower. Whatever was going to happen wasn’t good.

Inside, was just as unremarkable as outside. The entire building, or at least what you could see of it, was completely empty. Though, there was a  cross at the far side of the space that stretched all the way up to the ceiling.

As you looked around, you heard a strange high pitched whistle and suddenly the room was filled with the lifeless angels that roamed without a purpose.

They still looked void of emotion and if you hadn’t always seen them or even watched the fly, you would have presumed them living. Even their movements seemed zombie-like. Their faces lacking any and all emotion.

A flap of wings and Marthol’s assistant was gone. Leaving you alone with them and the group of angels.

Marthol turned to you smirking. Though, their light blue eyes looked all the more malicious. The lines of their pale face made you wonder if this was the look of a true demon and not an angel.

Their suit was pristine. No wrinkles or creases to take away from the sheer quality of it. But that too seemed ill fitting for the so called “angel”.

“Now pet, you will repent before the eyes of god. And as proof of this, you will give an offering.” The smirk on their face only grew.

“B-but I have nothing to offer.” You said, trying to sound brave.

“Oh, but you do my pet. It’ll just take some time getting them off.” Marthol’s features became dark. Their smirk ever present and their eye’s glossing over with an almost sadistic gleam.

You gulped.

“Take them off? Them? Do they mean my arms? My legs? My eyes, fingers? How would any of those things be an offering?”

“W-what do you...I don’t understand.” You stuttered, backing away from the form in front of you.

“You’ll see.”

With that Marthol snapped their fingers and the once lifeless angels surrounding you moved with speed you didn’t think they were capable of.

Sebastian walked shallowly behind his master. Holding back one of the many sighs that threatened to leave his lips. Since his master had become a demon, Sebastian was forced to prey on weaker and very tasteless souls to stave his hunger. For a demon of his caliber to be reduced to having to take orders from the far lesser demon that Ciel was, proved quite bothersome, if not shameful.

At first, Sebastian was a little saddened at all of his hard work going to waste, but it didn't take long for that sadness to turn into anger and annoyance. Then, After a few years, there was nothing left for him to do but accept it. He knew the only way he could be free was if Ciel died - that wouldn’t be happening anytime soon.

Since the unfortunate event that ended with Ciel becoming a demon, the two of them had been roaming the earth for the years since.

They were currently in (C/n) in (Country/State), and they had just finished up a contract. Since Ciel was a new Demon, Sebastian had to teach him how to be a demon. That meant teaching him how to find souls, make contracts and how to use his abilities in order to fulfill the terms of the contract.

This soul, just like all the others, was lack luster. Luckily for Sebastian, it was Ciel’s to consume.

“That souls was awful. Worst than the others.”

“Indeed, My lord.”

“You didn’t present that soul to me on purpose did you? Knowing that it would be so foul.”

“Of course not my lord. Why would I ever do Such a thing.” Sebastian had to hold back from rolling his eyes.

He was starting to feel like he did before, when he first made the contract with Ciel. The demon Ciel was a brat and Sebastian hated brats. Just being around Ciel was a chore and there was no reward for his work.

Sebastian resisted another sigh. Luckily, Ciel liked to keep his human routines. This meant that he “went to sleep” and then “woke up” the next morning. This gave sebastian much needed time to himself.

In the time that he had, Sebastian looked for ways to end make the contract nulled, but that search soon became fruitless.

After years of searching, Sebastian found that the only way to end a contract such as theirs was to have a divine mediator review the terms of the contract and determine the status of Ciel’s soul.

Sebastian being a demon, meant that it was impossible to get divine anything. Divine usually meant god and god usually meant angels which he didn’t, couldn’t and wouldn’t deal with. Besides, he needed an impartial mediator and angels were most certainly not impartial.

On one of these nights Sebastian decided, on a whim, to go into a church. Maybe he would find an angel willing to help him. Though he wasn’t counting on it. No one came to this church at night and it soon became a place that Sebastian spent his time away from his master.

He didn’t do much these days when he had time to himself. As a demon, there wasn’t much on earth that curried his interest. Even now that there were so many technological advances like cars and cell phones, Sebastian's own abilities were still faster than what mankind conjured up.

He did find that mankind seemed to get a strange fascination with worlds that weren’t their own. In 1916, in lieu of WWI, people began diving into other worldly means to win battles. This included contracts with demons.

By the 1940’s there were many more people who procured contracts as a means to some selfish end. Most, however, didn’t end up getting that which they wanted, and for a time there was a split between demons who did end up completing their contract, and those that didn’t.

With the battles of WWII between the humans, became a battle between demons as well. Sebastian, being stuck as he was with his master, could only watch. Though he didn’t mind this. It was quite fun to watch.

Sebastian was astonished with the creation of the atom bomb and the level of it’s destruction. though , he was disappointed that after its first use, the Americans never used it again. Nor did any other country that acquired that technology. Such as shame.

Coming out of his thoughts, Sebastian held the door open for Ciel as they entered their current home. It was a 1 floor “modern” style home.

One thing that sebastian did appreciate was the practical size of the home. Everything was on one floor, meaning that the kitchen, laundry, and lounge areas were close, but not in the way of each other.

Ciel was not a fan. It took a lot of convincing to get Ciel to move into this humble form of living. His master thought it beneath him to have to live in such a small space. But, to his credit, Sebastian was one hell of a persuader.
